Experience

Transportation
Worked with regional transportation agencies to implement and update their regional transportation plans.
Served as a contract manager and advisor overseeing the distribution of State and Federal funds to regional transportation agencies.
Oversaw regional grant administration for the Sustainable Transportation Planning Grant and Adaptation Planning Grant programs.
Developed the community engagement strategy for a Caltrans District Active Transportation Plan.
Prepared and executed community outreach events in Santa Monica to support public education and outreach
Conducted outreach with Santa Monica storefront business owners to achieve street design, transportation, and land use goals for the Lincoln Neighborhood Corridor Plan.
Collaborated with a UCLA professor to participate in research funded by the CA Air Resource Board.
Contributed to the first academic research paper on complete streets, travel behavior, and air quality in the state.

Coastal Planning
Serve as an Advisory Board Member for the State Coastal Conservancy.
Worked as a Coastal Planner as staff for the California Coastal Commission.
Led statewide sea level rise planning for transportation infrastructure - the State Highway System - along the entire coast of California.
Led legislative review and analysis on proposed sea level rise legislation in the CA Legislature.
Authored statewide guidance on coastal adaptation considerations for transportation infrastructure with a focus on vulnerability/adaptation studies to further resilience for local, regional, and Tribal governments.
Served on the technical advisory committee working to further climate resilience and safety for State Route 1 (Pacific Coast Highway in Los Angeles and Ventura Counties).
Implemented SB 198 and the Federal Infrastructure Investment and Jobs Act (IIJA) to support Caltrans' climate change program.
Represented the Caltrans HQ Division of Transportation Planning in coordination with the CA Coastal Commission to ensure Coastal Act requirements and sea level rise guidance was integrated into all aspects of transportation planning.
Researched literature on sea level rise adaptation to inform the development of the Marin County Bay Waterfront Adaptation Vulnerability Evaluation (BayWAVE) project.
Drafted Community Profiles for the Collaboration: Sea-level Marin Adaptation Response Team (C-SMART) vulnerability assessment planning effort to address sea level rise in west Marin County.
Reviewed coastal planning projects in the City of Malibu and Santa Monica Mountains to ensure compliance with planning regulation for coastal development permits, conditional use permits, variances, and zoning amendments.

Environmental Protection
Served as Treasurer on the Board of Directors of the nonprofit Environmental Protection Information Center (EPIC).
Initiated litigation under the California Environmental Quality Act, the National Environmental Policy Act, and Endangered Species Act as a Board Member with EPIC.
Supported the protection of endangered species and public land as an EPIC Board Member.

Economic Development
Own and operate a small business dedicated to health and wellness in Encinitas.
Serve on the Board of Directors for Leucadia 101 Main Street Association to support local businesses.
Chair of L101’s Economic Development Committee.
Serve on the County of San Diego’s Community Action Board as the District 3 Public Sector Appointee representing Vice Chair Supervisor Terra Lawson-Remer to eliminate poverty and support economic development.
Served as Chair of the Economic Development Committee for the City of Arcata.
Advised Arcata’s City Council, Planning Commission, and City staff in matters related to economic development.
Provided recommendations on Arcata plans and projects to support economic development. Served on three subcommittees.
Worked as a community organizer to increase civic engagement and work toward economic development in low-income communities in the San Francisco Bay Area.
